Internal Microphone on Dell M4700 not working
Hi All,
I have a Dell Precision M4700 and have never had the need to use the internal mic until recently. However, when I tried to use it, I can not be hear. The mic test does not record my voice and appears to record what sounds like static. I have tried updating the IDT driver, uninstalling it, and reinstalling it. I have also tried using a plug-in mic. I have run the Microsoft Audio Recording Diagnostic Fix which does not detect any issues. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
System details:
M4700
OS - Windows 8.1 Pro,
OS Version - 6.3.6900 - Build 6900
Bios - Dell Inc. A14, 8/19/16

Hello. Did you check the BIOS? I believe the M4700 has a setting to enable/disable the mic, so you want to be sure it is on.
When you are looking at the Recording tab of the Sound properties, the bars don't move when testing either mic?
