Is Intel Rapid Start technology exclusively for SSD drives ?
I am unable to install the Intel software in my XPS 15z. I dont have an SSD drive and after installing BIOS update A06, the IRST option is unavalilable. I contacted Dell Tech Support and they tell me that it is available also for non SSD drives. I have not found literature nor comments on the web clearly defining this. Can anybody clarify the issue ?

Hi everybody,
Dell has just gone back on it's tracks and confirmed that the previous support answer was a mistake.
IT IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR SSD DRIVES. Even though I believe them (this is what it's really happening, it is not working on non SSD drives), I would love to see some info directly from Intel.

Terry B provided a valid answer and solution to IRST refused to install, see post below:

so the answer is... "Intel Rapid Start technology is exclusively for SSD drives" ....?
(becos it looks like that post by Terry does not answer the question)

Per the following web page:
news.cnet.com/.../windows-7-startup-time-will-get-faster-too
For Intel Rapid Start to be used, the system must have either a solid-state drive or an ancillary flash drive that works in conjunction with a standard magnetic HDD.
