Laptop caught on FIRE!!!

I left home to run an errand and while I was gone my vostro 1400 caught fire. The plastic is burned away from the mousepad exposing the inside of the laptop and it reeks of smoke. Obviously, it won't even turn on now. Has this happened to anyone else? My laptop is on 13 months old (of course the warranty just expired). It has really kind of freaked me out. Do you think it is worth it to send the thing into Dell?

DO NOT SEND IT TO DELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You will never hear of it again and they will destroy it to avoid any type of liability.

Find an electronics expert and have them analyse the laptop.

Under no circumstances let Dell get their hands on it.

Once you know what happened then you can legally approach Dell for a resolution.
