Laptop freezes when I connect AC adapter

Hi. I have a Dell Latitude E7440. The laptop boots to the desktop fine while its connected to the AC adapter. It also boots fine while on battery to the desktop and operates normally. But the problem occurs when I connect the AC adapter while the laptop is powered on, it freezes, for example when its on the desktop and i connect the AC adapter, it freezes and doesn't respond. When I disconnect the AC adapter, it resumes and operates normal again. When I connect the AC adapter again it freezes and when I disconnect, it resumes to normal operation. The third time I connect the AC adapter, it does not freeze. What could be the problem? Any help appreciated please.

Hi Dwaine David,

Thanks for writing to us.

When did the issue start? Was there any hardware or software changes done recently?

Please update the BIOS if not done yet, from support.euro.dell.com and observe for any changes,

If possible please try another adapter as well.

Please provide us your system tag#, email  address and name via private message.

Regards

The problem started 2 weeks ago. I have updated to the A18 BIOS and now it works fine. It does not freeze anymore. Thank you very much.
