Latitude C600

Have difficulty loading Win XP SP2. My Latitude BIOS is A16, do I need to upgrade before loading XP SP2? If so, is the latest BIOS A23 cumulative? Or do I have to load the older BIOS versions first? Also does Dell have its own XP w/ SP2?

Will greatly appreciate any help...

Dell Latitude C600 System BIOS {Click Here}.

Hard-Drive
C600A23_.exe
Description: This file contains a compressed (or zipped) set of files.
Download the file to a folder on your hard drive, and then run (double-click) it to unzip the set of files.
Follow the instructions to complete the installation.

Avoid the above "Windows Flash", about one a week on this Board where that method has Flashed a Notebook to a DoorStop.

Non-Packaged
C600_A23.exe
Description: This file format consists of a BIOS executable file. To use it,
download the file and copy it to a DOS-bootable diskette. With the diskette in the floppy drive,
reboot the system and run the program.

This is the safest method, make sure you are Booting to a Stable DOS first, not a Win9x "DOS".

Plain-Text
C600_A23.TXT
Description: This file format contains plain text which can be viewed with a standard text editor.

Download (to notepad) and read the above to see what is added from A_17 to A_23 and judge if it is anything
you need, BIOS Flashes always carry a risk to your system.
