Latitude C840 A C Adapter
I have an older Latitude C840 Latitude. A couple of weeks ago the power shut down. I fiddled with it and it ran. It is no longer running. No power.
The AC Adapter led light will come on for a few seconds after disconnecting and reconnecting the power cord. No lights on the battery tester light up. Sounds like the adapter is shot. Any thoughts?

Could be, if the LED on the adapter doesn't come on and stay on when the system is not connected to it. If it DOES come on and stay on before you connect the notebook end, the adapter is OK.
If the system will then run with no battery, the battery is bad. If it won't, try reseating (remove and reinstall) the DC power board:

If reseating it doesn't help, replace it - it's not uncommon to have these fail on old systems like this one.
