Latitude CPi D266XT
Hi all,
I have a Dell Latitude CPi D266XT. Whilst working with it today without promptimg it just went into shutdown mode and switched itself off. I tried to reboot and keep coming to a small blue screen which says that the BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant etc etc. It recommends upgrading the BIOS' which I downloaded from the dell site onto a floppy disk on my desktop. Problem is when it gets to the bit on the Latitude where it says do you want to replace A09 BIOS with A12 Bios, when I press "Y" it seems to just hang. I have left it for nearly 2 hours with no change. I have even tried the A10 BIOS upgrade which is the same
The blue screen occurs when it starts to load windows, you can just see the windows XP logo briefly on occasions before it happens.
I have dismantled everything from the laptop like memory, HDD, Keyboard, Memory/BIOS battery etc and re assembled it. I have tried to re load windows all with no luck. Any suggestions would be helpful.
TIA
Andy

Hi,
Is this the error message
When Windows 2000 is booting, you may receive the following error message:
STOP: 0x000000A5 (,,, )
The ACPI Bios in this system is not fully compliant to the specification. Please read the readme.txt for possible workarounds, or contact your system vendor for an updated bios.
The bios in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your system vendor for an updated bios. If you are unable to obtain an updated bios or the latest bios supplied by your vendor is not ACPI compliant, you can turn off ACPI mode during text mode setup. To do this, simply press the F7 key when you are prompted to install storage drivers. The system will not notify you that the F7 key was pressed - it will silently disable ACPI and allow you to continue your installation."

Changed the memory for known good memory from exact same type of machine and still the same, is there a way of checking the motherboard? I have run the Dell dos diagnostics program and it shows no faults.
I have also managed to upgrade the BIOS to A12 but still no luck
