Latitude D610 will not power up

I just recently purchased a Latitude D610 from a local shop.  It was without a hard drive and a power supply, but I found vendors on the net that could supply me with those components.  Once I had everything I needed, I powered it up.  It tried to boot from the hard drive, but there was no OS on it, so it went nowhere.  I restarted and went into the BIOS to change the boot sequence.  Well, turns out that the BIOS functions were password protected....this was a holdover from the previous user(s).  I certainly didn't have a password, so I started scrounging for a solution.  I found that if I crossed pin 2 and 3 on the EEPROM chip, that was supposed to reset the BIOS to factory settings.  Well, I attempted that once, but when I went into the BIOS, it was still the same.  Thinking I did not do it correctly, I again went to cross the two pins.  I may have inadvertently touched another pair...like pins 1 and 2 or 3 and 4...because when I went to restart again, I got nothing.  The laptop does not power on....no LED's blink....nothing.  Did I fry it beyond recovery and is now only suitable as a doorstop, or is there something I can do to revive it?  Thanks in advance for your help.
