Latitude D830 SigmaTel audio fix for Windows XP

After reloading XP on this computer, I initially couldn't get the SigmaTel audio to work.  The problem is with the Windows Audio service.  After you install the latest audio driver (R153908) and run it, don't immediately restart.  Go into the c:\dell\drivers\r153908\wdm directory and run suhlp.exe.  Then your SigmaTel audio will be detected and run properly.

We were having the same problems in getting a loadset image that works perfectly well on a Dell Latitude D420/D620/D820 to work on a Dell Latitude D630.
Up to now any combination of entries and directory specifications in c:\sysprep\sysprep.inf, did not load drivers in the correct sequence so that the audio works.

Running suhlp.exe fixed things - now all we have to do is figure out how to integrate this into a loadset that will continue to work on the spectrum of machines from Dell Latitude D410 - Dell Latitude D830.

Thank you for your insight.

Why do things have to be so difficult for something as straightforward as an audio driver?
