Latitude E5510 WiFi switch

The WiFi switch location on the Latitude E5510 is a problem. If placed on an elevated stand or on the lap the switch is easily moved shutting off the WiFi

My Inspiron laptop has the switch  as Fn F2 and is very convienent. Can the Latitude switch be deactivated and a hot key created?  The OS is XP Pro

The switch is a "hard" switch, wired into the laptop, and can not be deactivated unless you go inside and solder a jumper across the switch contacts. An easy solution is to tape the switch in the ON position. I empathize with you, as I sometimes have the same problem, and never seem to remember I have a switch until I try to reconnect several times.

Thank you for your answer. I guess that will be the easiest way to keep the WiFi on.

The switch can be configured in the bios
