Latitude E6400 fingerprint problem

I've a had a Latitude E6400 that has a fingerprint reader for about a year plus now and just decided to start using my fingerprint scanner and just installed dell controlpoint security manager and fingerprint reader suite but when I open the controlpoint the fingerprint reader doesn't show in security status and the fingerprint reader suite says there is'nt any biometric device installed on the computer. I have checked my device manager and its shows under credential vault device, broadcom  USH CV w/ Fingerprint Swipe Sensor. I've gotten the E6400 fingerprint setup instructions online and followed the instrutions yet the softwares still doesn't recognise the fingerprint & the fingerprint reader suite still tells me to connect or activate biometric device or fingerprint scanner and the controlpoint still doesnt recognise the reader. I updated the driver but still the same thing. Please whats the possible problem its cause and how to resolve it.
