Latitude E7250 horizontal black line on screen

My laptop screen spontaneously is displaying a thin horizontal black line in the middle of it - it shows up both on the laptop and on an external monitor. It's not there at first boot-up but is displaying when Windows 7 starts up.  This is my work computer and the local IT guy has done some diagnostics but isn't sure what to do next.  Have only had this computer since last May, hasn't been dropped or damaged. The line is getting very annoying - what can be done?

Thank you for writing to Dell Community Forum.

Please check in BIOS and also in the below steps if the line is seen:

Press and hold the D key on the keyboard while pressing the Power button, then release both at the same time.

This will initiate A grey screen, then Red, then Blue, then Green then White, to allow you to inspect the entire LCD
