Lattitude E5510 - network driver update - Installation Blocked
Hello,
hoping someone had run into this issue. We have a Lattitude E5510 that is having disruptions in connectivity. It will just freeze when in IE after a few minutes of use. I don't see a ton of network activity showing on the Laptop or a bunch of RAM getting used. The interesting thing is that other programs can be run at that time, as long as they don't require internet (Windows Update will also occasionally fail). Scans on the machine come up clean. Apparently this problem has been occurring since the laptop was new.
I figured this might be a driver issue. Current version showing in system manager is Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200 AGN 13.3.0.24
The only Wifi driver update I see for WiFi on Dell's support site for 32 bit Windows 7 is: WiFi Link 6200 v15.10.0.10 (A03). I don't even see any previous versions listed.
I downloaded the above driver and ran install and it gives me this error message:
Installation Blocked
Intel Proset Wireless Software v16.1 This version cannot upgrade from the current older
Please uninstall the older module manually.
So before I go into Control Panel and uninstall the previous version of Intel ProSet, do I have the correct version of the driver? Anything else I need to do besides an uninstall from Control Panel or should I need to do any kind of specific folder cleanup to make the install work?
I have never gotten a notice like this when installing a driver which makes me think its not compatible.
Any help in the right direction would be appreciated.

Have not installed/re-installed the OS recently. These drivers are the ones loaded from factory.
Considered downloading the one from Intel, but I have seen it mentioned several times including from Intel to download the OEM specific drivers from the their site. So I assumed I would cause more harm doing that.
Anyone having issues updating the Wi-Fi driver for the E5510?

TechieINkc1,
Did you recently install/reinstall the operating system? Did you install the drivers in the correct order?
How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order
Did you try the drivers from Intel's website?

TechieINkc1,
I am using drivers version 15.1.1.1 on my Windows 7 64-bit system with no connection problems.
Make a system restore point.
Download the drivers from Intel's website.
Start, control panel, device manager, network adapters, right click on Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6200 AGN, left click uninstall.
Tell it to remove the software and drivers.
Restart your computer. When you login, the new hardware wizard will try to install the drivers. Install the drivers you saved to your desktop.
Try these tweaks....
Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your network adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.
Go to the power options, and changed the Wireless Adapter Setting, from Maximum Power Setting to Maximum Performance.
