Lattitude E6400

I just purchased a used E6400 that was used in a business. The laptop shows "Wireless", but the only thing it recognizes is "1392". What do I need to do to recognize "Wireless"?

There is no such thing as a 1392. Do you mean the Firewire port?

Hi Bob,

Please share the operating system installed and paste the screenshot of ‘Device Manager’ with ‘Network Adapters’ expanded. Please follow the steps below:

  • Press ‘Windows’ key + R on ‘Desktop’ screen
  • Type ‘devmgmt.msc’ in run box and press ‘Enter’
  • Click > sign next to ‘Network adapters’

Please let me know where exactly getting the 1392 option for connection.

Keep me posted with the information. I will be glad to assist you.

I'm sorry, that should have been '1934'.

You need to read ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/Common/latitude-e6230_Reference%20Guide_en-us.pdf

There is no such thing as a 1934 either.

Heelo Amogh;

I did as you sait and 'Network Adapters' only showa 1934 net adapter.

going a little further, 'Other Devices' is all yellow

also under 'Secure Digital host controllers', there is a second 'SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller' that is yellow.

By the way I should mention I'm running Windows XP Pro SP3 Instead of Vista.

I think he means 1394....which is Firewire.

Plus there's 3 flavours of the E6400 so we could be here a while.

I asked him whether he meant 1394 in my very first post, but he insisted he has a 1934.

I got out my magnifier and found it was a firewire port, 1394, but I don't know which flavor. How can I find out?

Hi Bob,

Please share the ‘Device ID’ of the card. You may follow the steps below:

  • In ‘Device Manager’, right click the firewire card.
  • Click ‘Properties’.
  • Click ‘Details’.
  • Search for ‘Device Instance ID’.
  • Provide the numbers after VEN and DEV.

Keep me posted with the information. I will be glad to assist further.

Dear Amogh;

There was no firewire card, so I proceeded with 1394 Net Adapter, properties, details, device instance ID, but found no 'VEN' or 'DEV', only V1394\NIC1394\32AABC27324FC0000. Is this what your looking for?
