Letter T problems

I have an Inspiron Studio Laptop and the T on the keyboard is giving me problems. Not every time but most times when I type the "t" the font type changes, or it takes me to a new page - generally an AVG page.  It doesn't seem to be sticking, but it it very annoying. Any suggestions?  Thanks, Kathy

Hi Kathy,

There is a possibility that the 'Ctrl' or 'Alt' key on the keyboard is stuck; ensure that none of them is stuck. Are you facing this issue while accessing the Internet or while using any particular application?

Open a notepad:

  • Click on 'Start' and type in the search box 'Notepad'.
  • Click on 'Notepad ‘in the search items.
  • Type in the notepad and check if you face the same issue.

If so, check the keyboard layout settings:

  1. Click Start, type ‘intl.cpl’ in the Start Search box, and then press enter.
  2. On the ‘Keyboards and Language’ tab, click ‘Change keyboards’.
  3. Check the region. (It should be selected as per your region)
  4. If not, click ‘Add’.
  5. Expand the language as per your region.
  6. Expand “Keyboard list”, click to select your region, check the box and then click 'OK'.
  7. In the “Options”, click “View Layout” to compare the layout with the actual keyboard.
  8.  In the “Default input language” list, click (your region) and then click 'OK' two times.
  9.  In the “Regional and Language Options” dialog box, click 'OK'.

You can also use 'On Screen keyboard' and check:

  • Click on 'Start', type ‘Run’ in the search box and press ‘Enter’.
  • Type ‘OSK’ and press enter.
  • Type with On screen keyboard and check if you face the same issue.

If the issue still persists, check the issue in 'Safe Mode with networking':

  • Restart your system and keep tapping 'F8' as soon as the Dell logo appears.
  • Highlight 'Safe Mode with networking' using up and down arrow keys and press enter.
  • Check if you face the same issue.

Keep me posted. Please reply for any further questions.
