M6300 notebook can have 8 GB RAM?

Question

Has anyone noticed that the M6300 can now be configured with a total 8 GB of RAM?

Who makes 4 GB sodimms? Neither Crucial nor Kingston offer them...

Also, the M6300 user's manual states a 4 GB (not 8 GB) maxium total memory capacity.

Is this option for real?

There is a current thread regarding this latest bios update A07. I'm also curious about this as I always understood that the Santa Rosa 965 chipset was limited to 4 gig of ram. The other thread under the bios section is also indicating that thiis bios release does something new to the way the system uses the available ram.

I have experienced it myself, after updating to A07, Task Manager shows the available physical memory for the system now about 500mb less than there was prior to the bios upgrade. It seems to affect both Vista and XP.

Isn't this same Santa Rosa chipset used in desktop systems?  If so, I bet that they can use >4 GB. Anybody know who currently manufactures 4 GB sodimms?  I can't find them anywhere...
