Monitor White when I start up Laptop
I have a Vostro 1510 with a 256MB NVIDIA#174: GeForce#153; 8400M GS Graphics. When I start up the computer I have a white screen, so I hooked up an external monitor to it. That worked for about two weeks and now that doesn't work. I checked the external monitor with another computer and the monitor is working. I think the computer is starting up because I can see it listed on my home network but can't get into it because I didn't share any files on that computer. Could this be a video card issue? I just replaced the battery and I don't think I want to invest much more into this laptop.

This system does have the known-faulty nVidia chip -- yes, that could be the problem, particularly if there's no image either internally or externally. Unfortunately, it's not a card - the system board would have to be replaced.
