My XPS Laptop making funny sounds

Hi there,

My new laptop keeps making this crackling sound when sitting doing absolutley nothing.

It just crackles (for lack of a better word), crackling and crackling.

Sounds like the sound is happening closer to the left side of the laptop.

Also, I have noticed that the black bar at the top of the keyboard where it says XPS I M1530 it's not flat

it is raised above the F1 and F2 keys.  Is this normal ?

Is everyone else's like this and making a crackling noise all the time ?

Thanks for the help and advice.

Michael.

It is laughing at you!

The bulge is pretty common on most of them. The LCD display cable is routed under the strip and the keyboard and it makes them bulge slightly. It is aggravating when you stare at it. You might try pushing it down gently, sometimes they are not fully clipped into place.

Thanks, ok so the bulge is normal.

What about this stupid laughing crackling sound?
It's bugging the heck out of me, and every 15 seconds it sounds like a water droplet
a very strange sound, not loud, but very odd.

Thanks

Hi I found this thread on google searching for a strange sound coming out of my xps 15 which is a different model from your computer.  Mine comes from my right side of my speakers. I noticed it most when I have the sound on although it still happens in mute. I believe it's part of the energy conservation. Under Advanced in Dell audio by realtek,  Turn off power management or switch to Battery only.  after making the change,  it seems to have fixed it for me.
