I installed Windows server 2003 to install SAP. But I am unable to get the sound.and not able to install audio and video drivers.
Please help me how to get these drivers.
Thanks in advance,

Rajendar,
This is how it was done before Vista. There might be a better way now.
1. Enable Windows Audio Service. (This should be already enabled in 2003 Standard Edition). For other versions:
Go to Start/Run and type "services.msc" then hit the 'Enter' key (or click 'ok') .The Services window will appear. Scroll down until you find "Windows Audio" towards the bottom of the list. Double click on it and change the Startup type to Automatic, then click Start, Apply, and OK.
2. Download and install the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 KB901105 update from this Microsoft page:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=901105
3. Restart.
4. Install the audio driver for Windows XP. If you still have trouble installing it use WinXP compatibility mode.
5. Adjust DirectX hardware acceleration:
Click on Start/Run and type "dxdiag" then hit the 'Enter' key (or click 'ok') . Go to the Sound tab and move the slider on "Hardware Sound Acceleration Level" to Full Acceleration.
(Thanks to kovacsAtTiLa from a site called west-wind.com. He originally posted the crucial information, the link to the Microsoft patch.)

Rajenda,
I am sorry but I don't have any information regarding the video driver. Try posting on the Laptop Video Board for a better chance at getting an answer for that.

Hello Das.
Are you trying to use this IDT audio driver?
At which step do you get the error message?
3. Restart.
4. Install the Sigmatel IDT audio driver for Windows XP.

After downloading this file and trying to install at that i am getting error like
setup has detected that the version of the service pack installed on your system is lower than what is necessary to apply this hotfix.
At minimum, you must have service pack 1 installed............................
Thanks in advance .

Hi Jimco,
I have installed Windows Server 2003 SP 2.
I tried installing Update for Windows Server 2003 (KB901105)
The error message I am getting is
setup has detected that the service pack version of this system is newer than the update you are applying.
There is no need to install this update.
I am having Dell Inspiron N5110.
I have checked that Audio is enabled in the service.msc
However In Dxdiag, I am unable to change the acceleration tab, as i think its due to absence of sound driver.
Kindly provide a solution for this.
Thanks
Karthik R

Karthik R, the instructions were developed back when XP was the new operating system. I don't know where you can get an XP driver for an Inspiron N5110. Dell does not support XP on that model and does not supply an XP audio driver for it. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

The driver is for XP, Vista. and 7. The instructions call for an XP driver.

3. Restart.
4. Install the audio driver for Windows XP. If you still have trouble installing it use WinXP compatibility mode.
5. Adjust DirectX hardware acceleration:
