New (larger) hard drive not recognized as correct size in bios.

Laptop is a Latitude D600.  HDD failed.  New HDD is 250gb.  Bios is reporting 137gb.  Entering setup does not allow any changes to HDD settings.  Items are not changeable.  Tech Support (India) was as helpful as usual.  At least they didn't tell me to reinstall the operating system.  However their fix didn't work either.  Windows recognizes all of the HDD, but the bios does not.  Cannot run maintenance utilities on HDD unless bios is correct.

Is they a utility I need to get into the "proprietary" parts of the bios configuration?  Is there a "secret" way into the bios to make these changes?

The bios does not support 48 bit LBA, hence the 137 GB limit. I'm not aware of any workaround.
