No boot device found / Inspiron 5520 15R
Hi,
My 1 year and a half old 15R seems to have a bit of trouble when trying to boot. Actually, sometimes it just will turn on with no problem, but the other 9 times out of 10, I will just see a screen displaying the same text as a lot of other users "No boot device found".
When pressing F2, it shows that my hard drive is not detected. So, once I had a chance to run the diagnostics, I got the following message :
"ERROR CODE 2000-01 42
Validation 127487
Msg: Hard Drive 0 - S/N S2TBJC0C200821, Short self test unsuccessful"
So I guess my hard drive is good to throw away ? And my warranty expired in august by the way.
I hope someone will be able to help with all that info
Thanks !

As you note, you do need a new hard drive - yours has failed.
Any standard 2.5" 7- or 9.5 mm SATA notebook hard drive, hybrid drive or solid state drive will work as a replacement for your failed drive.
