Plugged In Charging, Consider replacing your battery with CROSS mark :(

Hi,

I own a DELL XPS15 with 6Gb RAM , i5 processor . From last 2 weeks i am encountering a problem with my battery.

The battery icon at the right hand side bottom displays a cross sign on it which also says "Plugged in Charging, consider replacing your battery" :( :(

Before 2 weeks my battery was perfectly working with a backup of 2 hrs approx....really cant understand what went wrong suddenly and now i am getting this warning.

Anyone encountered the same issue or is there any measures to be taken to rectify this ??

Your answers/suggestions are highly appreciated and i would be very thankful..

Thanks,

Hello Mak_XPS15,

I would suggest few steps would which would help us in isolating the issue further:

  1. Check the Battery Health in the BIOS. To enter BIOS Setup, restart the computer and keep tapping F2 key at the Dell logo screen. Check the battery health and make a note of the message. If anything other than your battery is "performing normally", the battery should be replaced.
  2. Dell offers a free Battery Diagnostic test, to run the test refer to the Dell Battery Diagnostics site.
  3. Also try the suggestions mentioned in article on How to improve your laptop battery’s performance.

For more details, see Laptop Battery FAQs.

Hope this helps!
