Processor Speed on my new 17 7000

Question

HI, I havent bought a laptop in a while and landed on a 17 7000 with advice from the online chat team, my order stated the i7 processor speed was 'up to 3.0ghz' but having now got the laptop it states 1.8ghz, which seems a large difference, I am not very savvy on the numbers but mt 2 other systems which are almost half the cost have a much higher figure, I was hoping someone could give me an idea of whether this figure is what it should be and if this is a good processor, as I bought on the beleif this was a very fast laptop!

As you will see from the Intel specifications, this CPU runs at 1.8 GHz and can burst up to 3.0 GHz, when the system needs the added CPU power:

The system CANNOT and is not designed to run at top speed all the time - this is the way all current CPUs operate. The system will adjust the processor speed according to the demands of the software running at any given point in time.

In other words, your system is running completely as it is designed to run.

Hi BIMMONDS,

I7 processors are the latest and fastest processors available on the system these days. Even a 1.8 Ghz would also be faster in comparison of any processors that you had on the earlier system.

Thanks for the reply, when I enter my service tag into the link you gave me it says there is no configuration available, as I mentioned on my order it just says '338-BCOV 4th Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4500U Processor (4M Cache, up to 3.0 GHz) 1SR' and does not specify a precise speed, I was just a little miffed as I thought I had ordered the top spec from the range
