RECOMMENDED ADAPTER(S) TO CONNECT AN OLDER DELL KEYBOARD TO A USB 3.0 PORT ON A NEW LAPTOP
The Dell keyboard is model SK-8110. CN-07N242-38842-365-3X05, Rev. A00 are on a tag pasted to the keyboard. At the end of the cable from the keyboard is a purple plug with a circular end with 6 pins. At present it is plugged into a Dell Optiplex GX260 desktop computer, with Windows XP, circa 2002. I would like to use this Dell keyboard on both the older desktop and the new laptop with Windows 8.1. I assume that the connection to the new laptop will be through a USB 3.0 port.
If this is possible, I would appreciate a recommendation on what adapter(s) to purchase. Any discussion on this subject would also be appreciated.

There are adapters that can do the job -- that said, a USB keyboard as noted, will cost about the same or less.

It is not possible since the PS2 connection is not supported. Keyboards are cheap--$15 for a new one. You do realize that laptops have built in keyboards and an external one is not needed.
