Recovery of a floppy disk

I just purchased an Insiron 1501, I always do my own taxes, this time I had to purchase an external floppy drive to download my past tax info. I put my new info in a floppy disk, now this disk somehow became corrupt. Is there anything I can do with this laptop to recover my info.
