Replacement Battery for Inspiron 1545
I ordered a battery for Inspiron 1545 from Amazon. It doesn't look like the one that is in it now but the battery snaps in. The old one is flush to the back of the computer this one has a bump out .. also the old is 10.1 V and this is 11.1 V and old one is 46 Wh and this one is 58 Wh .... is all of this normal for a replacement battery? And do I understand correctly that I need to let the current battery run completely out, shut down computer completely, replace battery, plug in computer BUT DO NOT TURN ON (?) and let battery charge? Seems to me to charge the computer would have to be on but I also thought I was competent enough to order a replacement battery :emotion-3:

Are you sure this is a genuine Dell battery?

Actually no I'm not sure ... it is SOLD AS a Replacement battery for a Dell Inspiron 1545 Laptop. This is the first time I've ordered one and I "assumed" that because it said it was "for a Dell" and not just "compatible with" a Dell that it was the right one. I didn't turn the computer on but it does snap in and lock in place but I didn't want to try turning it on until I drained down the computer from the old battery.
