Sonar Ping and Black Screen
Hi,
My laptop when I start or restart it will not turn on it`s screen and will just emit this pinging sound repeatedly . I can only get ride of this some times if I close it plug it in and them start it again. but it takes me a few times. I've ran all the diagnostics and it says nothing is wrong with it, Help?!

Hi lennax,
The Pinging sound is the Beep pattern. I’d suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below and check if the beep pattern repeats.
Also, I would suggest that you run the diagnostics on the computer after the above steps by following the steps mentioned in the video below and check if there is any issue with the hardware on your system.

I did as you suggested and the same thing happened. The screen does not turn on. Although it seems that the computer sort of half starts running but then the rhythmic pinging sound continues and does not stop until the computer is shut down. Any other suggestions?

Hi lennax,
The computer might emit a series of beeps during start-up if the LCD cannot display errors or problems. The repetitive beep codes help us to troubleshoot problems with this computer.

I've got the same problem with my wife's laptop.
It sounds very much like sonar - 4 pings, starting loud and each successively softer. The pattern repeats three times.
The screen remains black/blank. When the power button is released, the sonar pings mentioned above start and the LED on the front panel of the chassis lights. After the third sequence, the LED goes out.
The model appears to be an Inspiron 15 - 3521.
Any help or direction is appreciated.

Anyone get any help with this item??? I just googled the same thing found this forum tried previous suggetions and still nothing. Still a series of 4 pings repeated 3 times????
