Studio 1737 Media Panel/Cover Power?

Hello!

I am trying to resolve whether or not the FFC cable (flat folded cable / ribbon cable) that runs from the underside of the media button panel / cover is required to complete a power on loop.  I had issues where the power button would not always work, and upon examination, I found that the contacts in the 10pin FFC were damaged an possible being jarred from place.

Would this cause a power on issue?  I have removed the cable to prevent shorting anything, and no power on at all.
