Unable to boot windows (Plus other stuff I don't understand)
Hello, I would appreciate some help with this blasted thing before I take a hammer to it.
I have run Diognostics, defrag, scan disk, tried to do a systems restore, and short of giving it a flying lesson none of this has helped me figure out whatthe heck is wrong. I ran scans to see if there was a virus, and ran the complete instead of the the quick scan on both the virus protection and the spyware thing.
When it first started, the sreen would lock up on me. Didn't matter if I was on Exploroer or FireFox (Which I have to use to get to my pronotus for my job.) Then whe I would reboot it will go to a "Start Up Repair" (Which it has been doing for the last hour now.) I tried starting it in safe mode...And I realize I may not be giving a very good discription of what its doing but I'm really not sure what to say . SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!! I have a long weekend coming up at my job and I use my laptop ALOT at work. (Easier to do my documentaion in the same room as the girls I take care of than waiting until they go to bed..by then I am too tired to go to the house office and do it) I know un-nessasary info..sorry...I really don't want to smash it, the short term self gratifacation wouldn't last long then I'd be REALLY mad .... at myself.. Thanks for any help you can give me (julia)

It might be a hardware error causing WIndows to act up like this.
If under warranty log this problem with DELL after making a backup of all your critical
data.
First thing to check is RAM memory. Diagnostics does not always trap faulty memory.
Try reseating RAM memory / run on 1 RAM memory module ispossible, then try the
other.
If in doubt use a free OS to see if problems stop, no need to install / change anything
on the hard disk. If so you're dealing with a Windows problem only.

also have no idea what a free OS is or how to do what you suggest...lol I'm pitiful.:emotion-42:

Hey Thanks for the info...I would assume it's still under warrenty...I'm buying it on timw...they have some kind of fire wall on all the pc's they sell and if I try to reformat etc, it shuts down the fire wall of theirs. I don't really understand it all anyway. So my next move may be taking it in to them as I still have 5 payments left. lol Thank YOu so much!!1 Appreciate it !! Merry Christmas!

He means running a Linux LiveCD.
It can be a good idea or it can actually give you more headaches if the Linux drivers for the hardware in your laptop isn't available.
Since you are still paying for your laptop, taking it back to the place of purchase is the best approach.

Thanks, I didn't knwo what it was and that is what I am doing on my way in to work tomorrow...I try to learn as much as possible with these things, and for the most part get on well with out having to get help, but this time is the worst ZI've had to mess with. Hell I can't even get it to run in safe mode now. Very frustrating to sa the least. Hell I know more about car engines and how they work than I do computers....OBVIOUSLY!! Anyway Thanks again for the info....
