Unable to connect to Wifi

Since yesterday evening that i got back to my hotel i wasn't able to connect to the wifi network. The pc finds the network but when it beginns connecting it get stuck to recognizing it and on the end it stops and sees the wifi as an unknown network without internet connection. Because we had in the last weeks a few problems i tried also to get online with my iphone and it happened without any problem.

I did a few reboots, few restart of the wifi adapter, few delete-reinstall of drivers, few attempts to connect to other networks but nothing helped. Also PC Checkup didn't find any problem.

Does anyone have a solution with this, before i destroy my pc.

Thank you

It is a Dell Inspiron 15R, N5010.

Here is a basic wireless troubleshooter from Microsoft.

windows.microsoft.com/.../wireless-network-connection-problems-in-windows

Just go through the steps and see if it resolves the problem.

If you have a Intel Wireless adapter you may also try the following steps.

Use Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility to Set CAM

1. Click Advanced > Adapter Settings > Advanced tab.

2. Select Power Management and uncheck Default / Auto and move the slider to Highest / Maximum Performance.

If the slider is already at Highest / Maximum Performance, move the slider to another setting and then back to Highest / Maximum Performance.

You can also try this.

Put the wireless adapter into Continuously Aware Mode using the following steps.

1. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.

2. Double-click Network Connections.

3. Right-click the wireless connection and click Properties.

4. Click Configure.

5. Click the Advanced tab.

6. Select the Power Management setting, uncheck Default / Auto and move the slider to Highest / Maximum Performance. Note: If the slider is already at Highest / Maximum Performance, move the slider to another setting and then back to Highest / Maximum Performance.

Please let me know if this helps at all.

Sorry but didn't help. If it helps the wifi adapter is DW1501 Wireless-N Half-Mini. I got tired restarting the PC in hope that something will happen and it will work again.

I certainly understand your frustrating.  If you have not already done so, setup a wired connection if needed and download this most up to date driver for the DW1501 from support.dell.com.  Just save it on the desktop, don't try to install it yet.

So one thing to try is to uninstall the wireless driver from programs and features in control panel.  Double-check device manager and verify that the driver has been removed, then shut the system down.

Open the BIOS by tapping F2 while starting the system.  Once in the BIOS reset the system to defaults by pressing the F8 key. Save the changes and boot to Windows.

Once in Windows install the driver that you downloaded and try your connection and see if there is an improvement.  Try more than one network just to make sure that it isn't a problem with a specific network.

If this proves not to help I would consider replacing the wireless card.
