Upgrade CPU on my Latitude D830
I'm planning to upgrade the CPU of my 3,5 year old Latitude D830. The current CPU is a Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 and my question is, what's the fastest CPU I can put on the mainboard thats in the Notebook? I think, the Core 2 Duo T9500 should work, shouldn't it? FSB and TDP is the same as the T7300... Is it also possible to use a FSB 1066 MHz CPU? And if so, does that make sense? Because the mainboard is just FSB 800 MHz...
The installation of the new CPU should be no problem for me, I just want to make sure that this CPU works with my mainboard...

Yes, the T9500 can be used. No, you can't use a 1066MHz bus CPU - max 800 MHz bus CPUs are supported.

That's asking for trouble - the system is not designed to cope with the heat produced by those CPUs - and if you have the weak nVidia graphics chip, the additional thermal cycling will likely quickly destroy it.

Yeah, I figured that. It's just that the x7900 can be had so much cheaper than the t9300 or t9500.
I need an upgrade for the t7100 in the system. I have the nv140. Recently had the entire board replaced by dell under the special extension.
