You should be able to upgrade to a Pentium M 1.7Ghz.

Easiest CPU removal I've seen;)

Just out of curiosity would it be possible to change the motherboard to one that would support a dual core cpu or am I getting over my head here? Also by going with a Pentium M 1.7 will I see much increase in performance?

I can't comment on the performance gain, but my kids have a B130 with pentium m 1.7 and it performs very well no problems.

And no you can't use a core cpu.

hi there, right now i own a B130, 370j celeron 1.5, 2gb and a 14.1inc lcd screen. and i would like to upgrade my cpu 370 to 750 (pentium m 1.86Mhz 533), would it be possible? coz right here when i did change the cpu, it boots on bios but not the xp. is says that i have to repair my existing windows some files in systems directory are not found. but when i boot on cd (recovery disc or the driver) it tends to fail and doest boot anymore. unless i pushed the power button again to reboot, then same things happens. and now while im doin this letter is what im using is i put back my old celeron to boot again... what shall i do? pls advise. tnx a lot!

im confused about my motherboard while im using chipset utility it says that it says im using alviso i915gm while ive seen on intel site that it is compatible with the pentium m family at speed of 533mhz. while the 910 is for celeron only?

ive seen some review that they are using i910 alviso but their using 1.73ghz pentium processor... hmmm. confusing isnt?

thnx n hope to hear from outthere..

Yes you can upgrade to that CPU,and it is easy too.On the back(bottom of laptop there is a compartment in the lower right hand corner, open the compartment and you will see the CPU.

My kids have the 735 CPU on the 15" model,so the you should be able to use the 750 with no problems.

hi gold, while mine is a B130 sl8mm 370j celeron M 1.5, 14.1"LCD.... i already bought a cpu from ebay (1.86 intel centrino CPU SL7S9 533 2MB 750 - came out from IBM-T43) well obiously i want a big upgrade on my system right now after i installed my 2gb mem... when i tried it again to install the Pentium CPU, my systems hang and says (windows/configure/systems/ not found) and some dll and HAL files... and all i have to do is reboot) and change it back to celeron is fine witout errors. even when i booted to diagnastics it always tends to fail on memory test while when celeron installed it wasnt. i did load default values on bios.

my bios is updated A10. all drivers are updated from dells support site. am i goin to conclude that the cpu i bought is not functional?

what shall i do? is there something i have to install some drivers or i have to change on the motherboard setting or something? the cpuz, everest as well as the chipset utility from intel says that i have this message. howam i supposed to do? is there any switches on motherboard i have to switch before i turn it into pentium or what? pls some advise for someone who has experienced this..... tnx to all...

What is the FSB speed of your celeron CPU,if it is 400mhz then you can't use a 533mhz CPU that is the problem. You will have to use a 400mhz CPU.

Here is a list of pentium M CPU's,  http://www.intel.com/products/processor_number/chart/pentium_m.htm .

Make sure you match the FSB speed with what you have now.

its 400mhz... thats why its not booting with my machine. and why is that from its manual is capable of 533 for  b130.... ok never mind. ill just return my cpu back to the seller and change it to 735 or 745.... tnx a ton gold... have a blessed day... :manhappy:

The system is capable of using a 533,if you started out with a 533 from purchase. Then you could go up to the 780 CPU 2.26Ghz.But since yours came with a 400mhz FSB you can only use a CPU with 400mhz FSB,you can go up to the 765 CPU 2.10Ghz now.
