Which Laptop Range has most durable hinges ?
I am looking for a new 17" laptop that will see extremely careful home use but that will be subject to several lid "open/close" cycles daily (perhaps on average 4). As hinge issues are a common problem generally, which Dell range would be the most durable.
Based on that criteria alone how would you rate the current 3750 Vostro range vs the rest.

About the same as the others. That's not surprising given that just five suppliers make most notebooks - regardless of the name on the outside, they're all the same inside.

Thanks for the reply... I'm in a bit of dilemma now. The Latitude isn't as far as I can tell available in 17" size. I'll have to think some more on this.
I guess what I should ask now is how the "consumer-grade Insprion/XPS/Vostro series." stacks up against the competition.

The Latitude and Precision series are better-designed and built than the consumer-grade Insprion/XPS/Vostro series.
There's little if any difference between the Inspiron, Vostro and XPS models. They're designed like most notebooks these days - three-years then replace.

Fair comment, I wasn't looking at it from that angle :)
It is hinges + collateral damage that is the demise of my 6yr old Acer Aspire. They always have been so very tight and many failed in 12months (it became a well known issue for that model).
I'm still leaning toward the Vostro having looked a bit more. I have more questions which I will probably post.
Thanks for the help.
