Which processors are compatible with a my dell inspiron 15r 5520?
Hello!
I have a laptop dell inspiron 15r 5520 with the following informations:
- model number: 5520-8062
- service tag: <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>
- service tag code: <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>
- region: Romania

- procesor: i3 2730m; TDP 35W; socket: 988B rPGA; 32 nm; Sandy Bridge

and I really want to upgrade the processor for gaming, it means to i7 cpu class.
First question: is it compatible with i7 2670QM?
Second question: may I have a complete list with compatible i7 processors?

Hi,
Thank you for reaching us.
I am afraid that a processor upgrade isn't possible on any Dell laptops as most processor's are soldered to the system board. It can be configured only at the point of sale
We haven't tested i7 2670QM on this model.
The complete list of processors we had tested and shipped with this model are given below.

The answer isn't completely correct. This model is one of the last that does use a socketed, replaceable processor - you can upgrade it with the list give.
Bear in mind that you will want a higher-capacity power adapter if you go with the i7-Q CPU (if you now have 90W, you'll want at least 130 if not 150 for a quad i7).
