You still haven't answered how they put a PCI express card on an AGP board yet.

As I have been saying all along the I855 chipset is AGP only, not PCI express.

So the whole basis of the article is wrong to begin with.

The Mobility Radeon 9800  is an X800 core GPU with eight pixel and four vertex pipes

Yes it is a different GPU. When they start cutting Pipelines that isn't a X800 anymore.

I think Tom's worded it wrong, as it wasn't an X800, it had to have been a 9800 to start with to go on that board in the first place.

So we are right back to the beginning where I said the test was lopsided in favor of the NVidia card.

Comparing a 6800 Go Ultra to a 9800, they aren't even close.

Now the X800 on the PCI Express bus would be faster than the 9800 on the AGP bus and closer to the 6800 Go Ultra.

Remember what I said about the I855 chipset being only AGP.

did i ever mention the X800 M test was made on a 855 chipset?

and on the other hand whether it's PCIE or AGP is not important at all

even if 6800 Go ultra is AGP i will still buy it

PCIE and AGP in real game is less than 2 FPS diff only

and that is not the point u are arguing

dunt avoid ur own point , now u insist 9800M is not based on X800 tech

and u dunt believe tomshardware's authority ,Okie

let me Prove it to u

check out all the site below they all mentioned 9800M is based on the X800 tech

No I looked at the Spec of the notebooks and the Laptop With the P4 had the I855 Chipset. :smileywink:

Oh but it is important because the X800 is PCI express only and a different GPU than the 9800 AGP.

dunt change the point
they are based on the same x800  R420 tech
not as u said it's based on the 9800 R350 tech
and nomatter how many piplines they cut
it is still a X800 AGP ~
even desktop the 8,12,16 pipline X800 are all called X800
becaused they are all based on the same R420 Tech not the R350 tech
they are not totally diff VPUs as u said  ~

So would I.

Yes on boards with the same overall specs, same FBS, Memory, and CPU, there is no difference.

But:

It's not the Bus that makes the Difference in the 2 it's the increased Bandwith of the features built into the chipset for the machine with the Pent M.

And I still say that, as there is a huge difference and I am still not buying what Tom's said by the way.

The Mobility Radeon 9800 is a the result of a collaborative effort between ATi's Mobile and Desktop graphics teams.  As such, it shares all of the features of its desktop counterpart, the X800,  it has 8-Pixel pipelines and 4-Vertex pipes (Desktop X800's have 12 or 16-pixel pipelines).  Other than that though, there are virtually no differences between the X800 and Mobility Radeon 9800 architectures.

u won't say a handicapped American is not an American
even he's handicapped he is still not a Japanese

u dunt believe in tomshardware and u said they are wrong
and the web sites all proved
9800Mobility is X800 Agp ver

it's very clear ~
