XPS-17 L702X Battery

My new laptop has a 150W battery. My desire is to extend the life of the battery. The laptop is usually connected to a 110V electrical outlet in my home or to a 220V electrical outlet at one of several homes of friends in China. Should I remove the battery while using AC power in the home or does it really matter? Are there any advantages to be gained by either removing it or leaving it installed in the laptop?

Thank you in advance for your time and any assistance provided.

If you leave the battery in and there is a power outage, you won't loose your work. That should be reason enough to keep it in...
