XPS M1530 HDMI to DVI problem

Helo

I´m trying to connect my new stylish laptop to my Samsung 22" monitor. It works with the ordinary VGA cable, altho I get disturbing lines across the screen. Its becose of the electric disturbance from the power cable. The lines dissappear while running on battery.

My sollution, I thought, was to youse the HDMI output. The screen slack en HDMI so its connected with a hdmi to dvi cable. The screen locks sharp but its green.

I have tryied: two different screens and two different cables but the problem resumes. Im running Windows Vista SP1 with latest drivers. I have tested all the different settings in NVidias control pannel. Fn F8 doesn´t work either.

The HDMI output works if its connected to my HDMI TV with an ordinary hdmi cable.

Thanks.

Does your Samaung have a setup menu for switching between analog and digital inputs?

I think I found the solution to my own problem. When using hdmi to dvi its important that the monitor or tv does support hdcp codec. All information from hdmi port is coded with hdcp. A monitor with hdmi port automaticly supports hdcp, but only a few hdmi-less monitors support hdcp.

So I my options are to find a good quality VGA-cable that can eliminate the electric disturbance or to purchase a new monitor with hdmi port.

It would all be mutch easier if Dell didn´t put the powercable next to VGA.
