alps touchpad gestures/horizontal scrolling not working in firefox

This was supposed to be an edit of my post in this thread:

http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=latit_input&message.id=9944

...but apparently it made a new one after I had to sign in again. Oh well.

Just thought I'd note the Mouse Gestures extension discussed in the above forum is for using certain mouse cursor movements to customize FF, not the back/forward gestures inherent to the touchpad driver.

This extension includes mouse gestures with customization, rocker navigation, tab and history scrolling, and autoscrolling similar to that in IE, all in a single package.

Let us know if you get this working, I clicked "install" and nothing happened.

I also use a Dell USB Keyboard on a D-Port and it has back-forward buttons that DO work.

I've used that extension before and it's great for external mice. (I usually just set the mouse wheel click to 'back' using either MS Intellipoint or Logitech Mouseware...now if only I could get the 'back' behavior to work through my kvm...)

Unfortunately, it doesn't involve any touchpad specific gestures such as the horizontal scroll area or the back/forward gesture area at the top of the pad, so there's still a lot of hand motion to accomplish navigation that way. I'm just wondering why the innate back/forward gestures available in the ALPS touchpad driver work in IE and Windows Explorer but not in Firefox?
