cd/dvd slotload malfunction
My Studio 1537 (64 bit operating system) running Vista Home Premium. Computer is 3 months old and cd unit only been used a couple of times. Tried to use after non use of 3 weeks or more and now it will not work. It will not accept the disc. It takes it in, makes noise (not chirping or whining) and spits the disc out. I have updated driver (PLDS DVD+-RW DL-8ATS ATA Device) and still refuses to work.
Uninstalled Roxio to do a fix for driver (Microsoft Answers). Didn't realize backup disc did not come with computer. Cannot reinstall Roxio Creator DE without disc (Dell did not include with computer) and drive does not work anyway. Reinstalled ITunes. Drive does not chirp or whine, it more like rattles(like out of balance). I haven't moved the unit since I purchased it, have taken it nowhere and nothing has happened to jar the unit. Are there any solutions for a slotload possibly out of balance?
Have jammed touch eject button in media board staying on at startup for 10 min to 2 hours.
This is really disconcerting. It is still under warranty but what a hassle. Obviously I need some suggestions as to what to do next.

Please give Dell a call, either have your optical drive or system replaced ...
