drivers for sigmatel high definition audio codec not running on Precision M90 (no sound at all)

When I restarted my system I wantet to adjust the volume of my system as usual with the external press buttons. The window with the sound indication comes up but there was no sound and usually the bar grows larger but it doesnt. I could also not switch of and on (mute). So I checked the sound system drivers and there was said that they could not be properly loaded... so I tried to reinstall and therefore downloaded the actual drivers from DELL... no success yet...

As Dell states that their support is that good I tried everything... telefone, online chat and e-mail but since 3 days no answer nor anybody who could give any support...

hi,

If you are not able to install the Sigmatel audio drivers in the normal way, then try this...

uninstall the sigmatel drivers from device manager completely and reboot the pc.

download the sigmatel audio driver and save it in desktop.

In device manager you will see a yellow exclamation (or) high definition audio device, make a right click on that driver and choose update.

In that wizard choosethe option "find drivers in the local computer", click on browse and choose that audio driver file name.. it may be under c:\dell\drivers\filename. choose the sound driver folder and click ok..

the wizard will search for the driver in that folder and install it.

restart pc and chk.
