external monitor not detected until I use Intel HD Graphics Control Panel
I have an HP monitor connected to the HDMI port on my Dell Inspiron 5559. When I boot up, the HP monitor is asleep. If I right-click on my desktop and choose Intel Graphics Settings -> Multiple Displays -> Detect, the HP monitor wakes up immediately and my display is Extended to the monitor.
How can I get my laptop to boot up in this configuration? (with my display extended to the external monitor)

Hi mikeotown,
Right click on the desktop and check if you have any display settings not the Intel settings and change the settings to extended.
