help- usb 2.0 support for latitude cpx h

I havea latitude cpx h, its old buta good machine.  Ijust purchased a usb/Firewire pcmcia card (micro inovations) to us on a external hd and tdk cdr.  The card will not read my hd or cdr but it does read a usb 1.1 64 mb portable.  I can hook the hd and cdr to the usb inthe  back and laptop accepts thedrives but at the 1.1 speed.  Any help would be muchappreciated.

Do your drives power from the USB port,  or do they use external power?  If they power from the USB port,  do you have an external adapter connected to your PCMCIA card to provide power for the devices?  Most (if not all) PCMCIA USB 2.0 adapters do not provide for the bus from the PCMCIA port,  so you would need an external power source.

What the OS in your Notebook?  Some os`s don`t suport USB 2.0 very well. Or under WinXP, there`re  USB 2.0 only supported untill SP1 and higher patched.
