I am thinking about buying an inspiron 1100  notebook and i need to know what is the maximum external monitor resolution through the 15-pin monitor connector?

Thanks,

Hello stn,

Welcome to the Dell Community Forum,

The max resolution will mainly depend on the resolution the external monitor that you will be connecting to it will support.

Hello stn,

I need to know the make and model of the monitor that you're connecting to the I1100 to actually determine If it will support  a resolution of 2048*1536*35..

Thanks,

Hello stn,

I researched your question but it looks like that I am unable to verify If the I1100 would support that high of resolution. The Inspiron 1100 uses the integrated Intel 845GL video chipset. The video card uses shared RAM with the computer system. Up to 32MB of shared memory with 128MB of system memory and up to 64MB shared memory with 256MB of system memory. It appears that the chipset maybe limited. a resolution of 2048*1536 is considered a very high setting. If I can get anymore information I will post it for you.

Thanks,

Actually, i'm asking about this resolution because I might be buying a 21'' monitor in the future, but the current one I have is LG 915FT which I use on 1600x1200x85. Even though it's not supposed to work on 85hz, because in the specifications the biggest refresh rate supported on 1600x1200 is 75hz, I just unticked the 'supported refresh rates' in windows, chose 85 and it works just fine.
Thanks,

What about the 1600x1200x85hz resolution? Can you find out if it is supported?

Thanks,

Hi,  I have an inspiron 1100 laptop and for some reason when I boot up, the screen is displayed with a thick black border around it.  When  I try to change the resolution, the only option I have is the 'Low..' setting and I am unable to move the arrow to change the pixel to a higher setting.    Need help.

thanks.
