inspiron N5010 Battery problem-not charging

Dear all,

I had INSPIRON N 5010.

I purchased this on September 2010.

Till now it is giving at least 30 min back up

from today on wards i do not know what happened battery not working.

It is running on the AC power only.(when i un plugged AC power RED led INDIACATOR is showing AND IT IS SHUTTING DOWN)

battery is not charging Even though i am working on laptop using AC power for so many hours

I am not able to update bios also because less than 10% battery.

So please guide me how to resolve this issue

if it says it is charging the battery but the battery % does not go up then most probably you have a dead battery. Go to BIOS (F2 at Dell logo) and on the main page scroll down if needed where is says AC adapter - if it says unknown it is a bad charger, if it says correct wattage (65, 90W) then it is a dead battery. Small % of cases motherboard could be faulty but considering the cost try with another battery first.
