Hi,

You can find the list of all the processors below tested by Dell on your computer:

(click on image for enlarged view)

You can check the comparison of 'i3-2350M' and 'i7-2860QM' from the link: http://intel.ly/122fJzI The lithography and the dimensions of both the processors is same but the Core junction temperature, Maximum TDP (Thermal design power) and the clock speed are way different and may cause system instability issues.

Dell does not offer processor or motherboard upgrades for purchase as discrete items, nor does Dell recommend upgrading the processor or motherboard in any given system. Therefore, Dell cannot support systems in which the motherboard or processor has been upgraded through third-party services or products. For more information, you can refer to the link: http://dell.to/VKnn0O

Please reply for further clarifications.

Hello,

I see in the link you provided above "comparison of 'i3-2350M' and 'i7-2860QM' from the link: http://intel.ly/122fJzI " and the content says

Max memory size for Intel® Core™ i3-2350M Processor (3M Cache, 2.30 GHz) is 16GB !! is this true ?
My current configuration has 6GB ram in built and I am planning to upgrade.

Will I be able to extend up to 16 GB or is it limited to 8GB as some of the sites state.

Please Help.

No . you can't . Go to intel ark website and compare socket  types to your i3 socket. to the 2nd generation i7 sockets . I was going to try to upgrade mine to an i7 with the same socket as the i3 but never did do it.
