m7710 does not see newly installed m.2 ssd

I recently purchased a m7710 with a 500GB mechanical drive with Windows 10.  I just installed an m.2 NVMe drive in one of the slots.  In BIOS general information, it sees the new drive; however, when I boot up, the system does not see the drive.

Any ideas are much appreciated.

The drive is blank - it needs to be partitioned and formatted before it can be used.  Are you planning to install  the OS to the SSD?  If so, make the recovery media for your system:

Then  remove the hard drive from the system,

Boot the system, go into setup and set the SSD to AHCI operation (not RAID).  Boot from the flash drive and follow through the installation process (which will format the drive as part of the procedure).

Since I don't know what an m7710 is, while I look for it, are you using an M.2 SATA or M.2 PCIe.

The complete model number would really help.

Thanks ejn63.  It was just the bit about formatting and partitioning the drive that escaped me. I thought it would come up as a drive letter before that. Thanks for taking the time to answer an amateur's question.
