not enough time to hit F12?

Question

I have an Inspiron E140, running BIOS version A10.

When booting, sometimes I like to boot from a CD. However, it seems like I have less than 1 sec to hit "F12" (or, F2 for that matter) before the getting the Windows booting screen. I have tried changing the boot.ini file via the "cmd" method as suggested by many, but it doesn't seem to work. Is there something inherent in this version of Dell's BIOS that makes it unable to adjust the initial time-out time? I would like to make it ~4 secs, rather than 1.

I find repeatedly tapping the f12 key at startup usually works.

Yea, I know. I'm just saying: I wonder if there is a way to give myself a little more time, so I don't have to blindly hit F12 so many times.

Not having enough time to press F12 is a good thing...it means your system boots up fast! :smileywink:

There's nothing you can do about it. I also press F12 blindly until I see "Preparing one-time boot menu".
