on/off switch for graphics for keyboard functions like battery/wi-fi/monitor brightness

Hi .. I have an Inspiron 6400. Can anybody tell me how to switch on the graphical displays
for keyboard functions like battery (small graphic showing how full/empty battery is)
and wi-fi (small graphic showing wi-fi or no wi-fi [like no smoking]) and monitor brightness
(similar graphic to battery graphic). I must have accidentally switched this function off and
I would like to switch it back on. Thanks. Ali

I hope this helps you...but I suggest you check on the icon on the lower right hand side of your screen that says dell quickset....

dell quickset will allow you to do the following...

press and hold FN key+arrow keys(up and down) to adjust the brightness
press and hold FN key+F2 key to turn on and off your wireless adapter(check wifi indicator above the keyboard)
press and hold FN key+F8 for you to toggle the display to an external monitor...usually this one is a bit tricky and try it thrice if the display disappears^_^

for the other shortkeys...refer to the documentation(I dont have the complete list here since Im out of my shift hur2x~)

Hi Raydrix and thanks for your response, I'm on a different computer
in a library at the moment but when I go home I'll look for the Dell Quickset
icon. I think you're probably right, the functions still work and go on/off for
Wi-Fi and the brightness still adjusts etc its just I don't see a graphical
representation of this on my monitor. Tomorrow (or the day after..) I'll
let you know if I succeed and switch it back on. Thanks a lot. Ali
