power charging issue for a Inspiron B130

My problem is: I replaced the battery and adapter (within the last 2 months) and I still can't consistently charge the Laptop

Here is what happens when the laptop needs to be charged

A)     I plug in the adapter and the battery light doesn’t light up

B)     Therefore,  I pull the adapter plug out and reposition it

C)     Sometimes I have to reposition the plug like ½ a dozen times before it starts charge

Any suggestion(s) on what to do next so I can consistently charge my system would be most helpful

Thank s

The power jack on the mainboard is faulty - contact a shop that can do solder rework;  the cost should run about $150 to replace the jack.
