starting up after hibernate mode

Question

My computer always gets stuck on the big blue DELL screen when its trying to turn back on and gives me an error message saying BIOS A06. Does anyone know what this means?

I had Dell help me reload the windows operating system on my computer back in Sep. '07 and about a month or so after that it started doing this.

I am not sure but http://www.bay-wolf.com/flashbios.htm has a list of Dell Notebook BIOS Updates and BIOS A06 is one of the updates.  It also might help to know your computer type.  Once again I am not sure about this but i was searching to find out what BIOS A06 meant because i saw that no one answered you yet.

Thanks for trying to help me. I went to that site, but they didn't have an update for an Inspiron 6000, which is the type of computer I have. If you have any other ideas. Please let me know.

This website talks about the blue screen of death...i made sure it was the blue screen you are indeed talking about...the website page is http://www.liutilities.com/products/campaigns/ppc/rb/gog/bluescreen/2/?s_kwcid=blue%20screen%20of%20death|1193002448&gclid=CMfr077WvpECFRuhFQodfh0zDA   It says that you need to have uniblue registry booster i'm running it right now to make sure it is nothing harmful for your computer.  For Instance mine just finished with 624 Problems/errors...when you do this PLEASE make sure to look at every file that they found as an error, its always good to take precautions.  You dont want to delete something that you actually need.   As you will find out, you can only have 15 items removed.  You will have to purchase Uniblue RegistryBooster online if you want to get them all removed.  I will try harder to find a free one but 15 items gone is good too.

Okay thanks, I'm gunna try that free trial thing of it. My computer doens't go to that big blue screen exactly though. It gets stuck on the one with the huge blue Dell letters and a black screen in the background and then the BIOS A06 is at the bottom in white. It still gets stuck on that part every time though when I try to restart it or just turn it on for that matter. I really appreciate all you help!

Oh and here is another thing Called ErrorDoctor...once again I am running it to see if it is without a doubt a safe program. No, its a completely black screen with the big blue Dell logo in the middle then towards the bottom in white it says Dell Inspiron 6000 Series, then under that it has a white bar that goes across as my computer starts back up, and when it gets stuck on the little white bar towards the end, under the bar it says BIOS Revision A06. I went back earlier tonight and wrote down exactly what it said so I could get it right. It just seems to me that there is something wrong with the BIOS A06 part and it gets hung up on that section each time it tries to re-boot or turn on to set up windows. I hope that kind of explained it better. But I will go check out that other site. Thanks again!

Have you reciently upgraded your BIOS? If so I have googled "BIOS Revision A06 freeze up" and i have found several people that have had the same problem. One says:

The two precautions that I suggest.

Make sure it is the exact bios revision for your system. Use the tag number to search and verify that the system and update files are indeed correct. Then go into the bios and verify the update version number.

I did not find a recover possibility. I too was hessitant, since, unlike award bios updates, you can't save the old file, just in case.

Do not turn off the system during the update. It should prompt you to reboot, or do so atuomatically when the update is finished.

By the way, I hosed my USB card setup with Flonix, but the curret version is in English.

I'm going to try again, to see how I got it to wotk the first time. My bios stalls on boot when the USB stick is in the slot, have to hit reset, then it boots correctly.

I have another question. Do you have a USB keyboard? Because if you look at this page http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/246820-30-bios-upgraded-succesfully-fails-load this person seems to have the same problem and he just switched to a PS/2 keyboard and it was fixed...

Okay, from what you had me look at to figure out about the keyboard thing seems to be the problem. I got a new Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 for christmas and after reading what you sent me I tried to uninstall, then reinstall the software that came with it. But that didn't fix the problem. However, if I just unplugg my keyboard each time I close my computer & before I turn it back on, it starts up just fine. Do you know how I can get it to start up while being able to leave my keyboard plugged into the USB port?

* One way is to try is to change your computer from going to hibernation mode, to standby mode.

A: If you pull up the Start Menu and go to the Control Panel, then Performance and Maintenance...from there you click Power Options, then you click Power Options again when it pulls up the next screen. It will pull up the Power Options properties, click Advanced and change what your computer does when the lid is closed. Forinstance, I have mine set to 'Stand By'. If you do not want to do this then just tell me and I will look for another way to solve your problem.

Okay, I'll try that and see if it will still allow my computer to kick on in the morning while my lid is closed to run my AntiVirus Scan on my computer. I'll let you know if that doesn't work.
